Football joy is certainly flowing towards Egypt like the mighty River Nile. Because Egypt is the most crowned champions when it comes to Africa Cup of Nations AFCON in which they have won for seven times and when it comes to Africa best player they make less impact .

Last two years the Liverpool winger Sadio Mane defeated his Premier League colleagues Sala and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to clinch the award.

Today, as we looking up to who could be crowned the next champion, let’s take a look at the five countries who have lifted most CAF African Player of the Year Awards in History.

5. Morocco-4 CAF Awards

Ahmed Faras: 1975, Mohamed Timoumi: 1985, Badou Ezaki: 1986, Mustapha Hadji: 1998.

Nigeria 4 CAF Awards

Emmanuel Amunike: 1994, Nwankwo Kanu: 1996 and 1999, Victor Ikpeba: 1997.

Ghana- 6 CAF Awards

Abedi Pele Ayew won it three times:1991,1992 and 1993, Karim Abdoul Razak: 1978 and Ibrahim Sunda: 1971

Ivory Coast- 6 CAF Awards

Ivory coast won the awards eight time, making the second on the list. Didier Drogba twice: 2006 and 2009 Yaya toure four times: 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Cameroon- 11 CAF Awards

Cameroon players won the award record of eleven time. The highest till date. Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o was the first to be crowned on four occasions: 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2010, Roger Milla Twice: 1976 and 1990, Thomas Nkono twice: 1979 and 1982, Theophile Abega once: 1984, Patrick Mboma: 2000, Jean Manga Onguene: 1980.
