Senator Rochas lifted his Award @ NDYA Awards in Abuja
The serving senator representing Imo West Senatorial zone admonished the youths to brace up despite whatever they’ve been through or whatever they think that the country has put then through by the older generation.
In his words, the former Governor of Imo State said “your challenges in Nigeria are like headache, people can only sympathize with you but the onus is on you to do something about it”
He went on by saying that: “When you look at Nigeria, you see pains and helplessness for a problem you never created. That’s the reason most youths organized the #EndSARS protest, the reason for the agitation for the republic of Biafra in the South East, Oduduwa Republic in the South West, same reason you are creating havoc in Borno in the name of Boko Haram, killer herdsmen in Zamfara, Katsina, among others. However, all hope is not lost to rewrite the story of the youths, and it all lies in your hands.

While Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, Owele Rochas Okorocha, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, and a host of other Nigerians in their keynote addresses decried youth unemployment and insecurity in Nigeria and demanding that the youths must take the bull by the horn to curb the menace ravaging the country.

“Going forward, the youths must be focused and work towards a better tomorrow, instead of focusing on mistakes of years past and continually blaming political leaders. 2023 is around the corner and youths should unite to fight the older politicians. Youths can achieve anything with unity of purpose. Instead of lamenting of unemployment and waiting for white collar jobs, create jobs and employ others. Political office is not a job. It is an avenue for criminals who want to steal, except for those who have made it in personal businesses before taking up political positions as a secondary job. The president can’t survive on N750,000 per month or a state governor with N600,000 monthly salary, except for other avenues to make money.

“In a nutshell, whatever you must do as a youth to succeed in life, do it now. Don’t procrastinate. Don’t wait to do for tomorrow what you can do today. Don’t wait to make millions before you can build a house or get married, you can start small. Every problem will get weak with persistence, so continue pursuing like a lion.

Owelle concluded with “you are the ones who is everywhere, you are the ballot boxes carriers and you are the one holding AK47, at my age I can’t carry AK47, you are the one making all the noise and you are the ones we are afraid of but your problem is unity of purpose from today be as united as lions.”

Also speaking, President of NDYA, Comrade David Victor Alozie, said that youths shouldn’t wait for government to do everything for them, adding that the organization has engaged in skill acquisition programmes for youths in order to curb insecurity and unemployment.

He said: “The issue of unemployment is a major concern in Nigeria. However, we shouldn’t wait for government to do everything. As NDYA, we have initiated skill acquisition programs for youths to curb unemployment. We engage in the reorientation of youths and sponsoring them to succeed in the different skills they have. You can see people engaging in cooking, plaiting of hair, among others. This has helped the crime rate to reduce.

“We brought our programs down to Nigeria because we are saddened by the constant protests, killings and other forms of insecurity and we hope the issues will be solved with time. As NDYA, we have met several youth bodies for deliberation on how to move the nation forward. So, I advise youths to reflect on their future. They should do all they can to acquire skills for survival. We are here to help in our own way to achieve a better Nigeria.”
Amb. Osita Ofor aka The Ultimate Commander, one time winner of the African Wrestling Heavyweight Champion was also and one of Awardee’s of Nigerian Youth Ambassador awards (NYDA) among other.
