Jamie Foxx had fans rolling on May 5, after a clip of the actor doing an impression of his friend Dave Chappelle went viral on social media. Foxx’s Chappelle impression includes the comedian talking about being jumped while on stage. The 48-year-old was attacked on May 3, during the “Netflix Is A Joke Festival” at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Chappelle was attacked by 23-year-old Isaiah Lee, who had a weapon described as a “replica handgun-slash-knife” inside his backpack. Lee was apprehended before being arrested and sent away in an ambulance. Foxx joined the comedian shortly after and Chris Rock, who had performed earlier in the evening, later quipped on stage, “Was that Will Smith?” Foxx was also on hand to assist Chappelle and was later recorded doing his impression of the comedian.
Hot Freestyle shared a video of Foxx’s Chappelle impression on Twitter with the caption, “Jamie Foxx’s impression of Dave Chappelle is so good.”
Many fans agreed that the impression was hilarious and responded on Twitter. One fan wrote, “Close your eyes and listen to this you might think is Dave Chappelle.”
“Was thinking exactly this,” replied one user. “This is an incredible impression of Dave.”
Other fans posted additional clips on Twitter of the Oscar-winning actor doing more impressions. One fan included Foxx doing an impression of recording artist Prince and captioned the post, “King of impersonations!”
Foxx also does what some find to be a funny impression of basketball coach Doc Rivers. “Reminded me of Jamie Foxx nailing the Doc Rivers impression,” noted one Twitter user. “He’s so good,” another replied.
Another fan posted a clip of Foxx cracking up fellow actor Denzel Washington.
Chappelle said onstage afterward that Foxx, Rock, comedian Jon Stewart and Busta Rhymes took Lee down backstage, but later clarified he was joking.
