The actor who has been in police custody since April for allegedly defiling the foster daughter of comedian, Princess, was granted bail today, Monday, May 17; on health grounds by a magistrate who was at the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID Panti to review some cases in a bid to decongest the police facility.
Baba Ijesha is yet to be released as his lawyer, Adesina Ogunlana; is working towards perfecting his bail condition which includes that he must have two sureties.
One of the sureties must be a Level 10 Public officer; while the second surety must be a relation of the actor.
The bail is put at N500, 000 in bond.
The accused actor is yet to be charged to court; due to the industrial strike by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN.
According to a statement gathered by 1st News, the disgraced actor was granted bail on Monday, May 17, 2021.
“He has been granted bail about one hour ago.
We are working to perfect the bail.
He was granted bail on health grounds.
He has not been released.
As a matter of fact, he will be released after his bail conditions have been met,” his lawyer Adesina Ogunlana said.
The actor was arrested in April for molesting a child.
A few days later, comedian Princess revealed that it was her foster child that was molested by the actor.
Princess said after the crash of her marriage, some parents allowed their children, six in number, to come and live with her so she wouldn’t be lonely.
